Indiana Prison COVID Project

Providing data and recommendations for the COVID-19 crisis in Indiana Prisons

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Indiana Department of Corrections (IDOC) has tolerated extremely high test-positivity rates in almost all of its prisons, and Indiana is among the worst states in the nation in terms of the percentage of prison populations tested. As a result, Indiana prison residents have died of COVID-19 at nearly double the rate of people outside, and outbreaks are spreading the virus to communities outside the prisons as well.
